Daily Mail: Because he got tired of turning off the lamps, TVs, and computers left on by his family members, an energy-conscious software engineer in the UK invented a gadget to shut them off automatically. The Energy EGG, a free-standing device about the size of a large goose egg, is linked wirelessly to a control plug, which can power multiple appliances. Like household alarm systems, the EGG uses motion sensors to detect whether there are any people in the room. If it senses the room is empty, it gives a one-minute warning before shutting everything down. Inventor Brian O’Reilly recently recently signed a deal to distribute 100 000 Energy EGGs to stores in the US.
